Recipe Description

Barfi Badam is a rich and decadent Indian sweet made from almonds, milk, and sugar. Ingredients

  • 1 cup almonds (badam), soaked and peeled
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons ghee
  • 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • Chopped almonds for garnish
  • Edible silver leaf (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Almond Paste

  • Soak the almonds in hot water for 2 hours or until the skins are easy to peel.
  • Peel the almonds and blend them with milk to form a smooth paste.

Step 2: Cook the Mixture

  • Heat a non-stick pan and add ghee.
  • Add the almond paste and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously.
  • After 5-7 minutes, add sugar and continue stirring.

Step 3: Add Flavoring

  • Add the cardamom powder and keep stirring the mixture until it thickens and starts leaving the sides of the pan.

Step 4: Set the Barfi

  • Transfer the mixture onto a greased plate or tray.
  • Flatten it evenly with a spatula.
  • Garnish with chopped almonds and silver leaf, if using.

Step 5: Cool and Cut

  • Allow it to cool for at least 20 minutes.
  • Cut into squares or diamonds and serve.
