Early Life:

Farah Quinn was born on March 8, 1980, in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. Her father, Akbar Tanjung, was a former speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, and her mother, Neneng Hasanah Yasin, was a housewife. Farah grew up in a family of five children and spent most of her childhood in Jakarta, where she attended school at the Jakarta International School.

Farah’s passion for cooking began at a young age, when she would watch her mother and grandmother prepare traditional Indonesian dishes in the kitchen. She would often help out with the cooking and quickly developed a love for the culinary arts. Farah’s interest in cooking was further fueled by her travels around the world, where she was exposed to different cuisines and cooking styles.

Education:

Farah’s formal education in the culinary arts began when she attended the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) in New York, where she earned a degree in Culinary Arts. She was the first Indonesian woman to graduate from the prestigious institution. After completing her studies at the CIA, Farah went on to earn a degree in Pastry Arts from the Ritz Escoffier Cooking School in Paris.

Career:

After completing her education, Farah returned to Indonesia to start her culinary career. She began by working as a chef at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Jakarta, where she quickly made a name for herself as a talented and innovative chef. Her work at the Ritz Carlton earned her recognition from the Indonesian media, and she soon became a household name.

In 2006, Farah opened her own restaurant, The Queen’s Tandoor, in Jakarta. The restaurant specialized in Indian cuisine and quickly became one of the most popular dining destinations in the city. The success of The Queen’s Tandoor led Farah to expand her culinary empire, and she went on to open several more restaurants in Indonesia, including a steakhouse and a Japanese restaurant.

Farah’s culinary talents also brought her international acclaim. In 2008, she was invited to participate in the World Gourmet Summit in Singapore, where she was named “Best Asian Female Chef”. She has also been featured on numerous television shows, including MasterChef Indonesia, Iron Chef Indonesia, and Top Chef Indonesia.

In addition to her work in the restaurant industry, Farah is also a cookbook author and television personality. She has written several cookbooks, including “A Journey Through Indonesian Cuisine” and “Farah Quinn’s Pastry”. She has also hosted her own cooking show, “Farah’s Asian Food Adventure”, which has aired in Indonesia and other countries throughout Asia.

Farah is married to Waseem Noor, a Pakistani businessman. The couple has two children together, a daughter named Zara and a son named Zaid.
