FAQs

Can I use milk chocolate instead of dark chocolate?

Yes, you can use milk chocolate, but it will result in a sweeter and creamier fudge. Dark chocolate gives a richer flavor.

How long can I store the fudge squares?

Store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For longer shelf life, keep them in the fridge for up to a week.

Can I add nuts to this recipe?

Yes! Chopped almonds or pistachios would pair beautifully with the chocolate and orange flavor.

Preparation Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the dark chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, and butter, stirring constantly until smooth and well combined.
  2. Once melted, remove the pan from heat and stir in the orange zest, orange juice, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  3. Pour the fudge mixture into a lined 8×8 inch square baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until the fudge is firm to the touch.
  5. Cut the chilled fudge into squares and serve!

Final Tips

  • For extra flavor, try adding a small amount of orange extract or a splash of Grand Marnier.
  • For a firmer fudge, you can chill it for a longer period of time, up to overnight.
  • Feel free to add a sprinkle of sea salt on top to balance the sweetness.

Popcorn chicken with zingy soured cream dip

Put the popcorn, bread or breadcrumbs and paprika in a food processor and blend until finely chopped. Tip into a wide, shallow bowl. Whisk the egg in a second bowl, and mix the flour with some seasoning in a third bowl. Dip the chicken strips first into the seasoned flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally into the popcorn breadcrumbs – press the crumbs onto the chicken to help them stick. Continue until all the chicken pieces are coated, then chill for 30 mins, or up to 1 day. Mix together the ingredients for the dip in a small bowl. When ready to cook the chicken, heat enough oil to just cover the surface of a large frying pan. Once hot, cook the chicken pieces for 2-3 mins on each side (in batches so you don’t overcrowd the pan) until golden and cooked through. Drain on kitchen paper. Serve warm with the dip on the side.
