  • 1/4 cup water chestnuts, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili garlic sauce (optional for heat)
  • 8 large lettuce leaves (romaine or iceberg work best)
  • Chopped green onions, for garnish
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Chicken

Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground chicken and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.

Step 2: Add Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, garlic, bell pepper, and water chestnuts to the skillet. Sauté for 3-4 minutes until the vegetables soften.

Step 3: Add Sauce and Seasonings

Stir in the soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and chili garlic sauce (if using). Mix well and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld together.

Step 4: Prepare the Lettuce

While the chicken mixture cooks, wash and separate the lettuce leaves. Pat them dry with a paper towel.

Step 5: Assemble the Wraps

To serve, spoon the chicken mixture into the center of each lettuce leaf. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds (if desired). Serve immediately.
