This protein packed pulao is super easy to make and super delicious to taste.
MASOOR PULAO
Ingredients
1 cup soaked red lentils (saboot masoor dal), soaked
1½ cups basmati rice, soaked
2 tbsps ghee
1 tsp cumin seeds
4-5 cloves
4-5 black peppercorns
1 inch cinnamon stick
2 green chillies, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
2 tsps ginger-green chilli paste
Salt to taste
½ tsp turmeric powder
3 tbsps freshly chopped coriander leaves
Coriander sprig for garnish
Raita to serve
Method
1. Heat ghee in a non-stick deep pan, add cumin seeds, cloves, black peppercorns, cinnamon stick, green chillies and sauté for a few seconds.
2. Add tomato, ginger- green chilli paste, salt, mix well and cook till the mixture is soft and pulpy.
3. Add turmeric powder, masoor dal and sauté well. Add basmati rice, and mix well. Add 3 cups water and mix well.
4. Cover and cook till the rice and dal is cooked completely. Add chopped coriander and gently mix. Take it off the heat.
Garnish with sprig of coriander and serve hot with raita.
