After completing her high school education, Darroze went on to study at the École Supérieure de Cuisine Française in Paris. She also studied under several renowned chefs, including Alain Ducasse and Guy Savoy, both of whom played a significant role in shaping her culinary style.

Career:

After completing her studies, Darroze went on to work in some of the most prestigious kitchens in Paris, including Restaurant Alain Ducasse and Restaurant Louis XV, both of which have three Michelin stars. Her time in these kitchens helped her develop a deep understanding of French cuisine, and she honed her skills as a chef.

In 1999, Darroze took over her family’s restaurant, located in Villeneuve-de-Marsan. She renamed it Restaurant Hélène Darroze and quickly gained a reputation for her innovative approach to cooking. Her restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2001, and she received her second Michelin star in 2003.

Darroze’s cuisine is characterized by a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients, and she is known for her ability to create dishes that are both innovative and deeply rooted in traditional French cuisine. She has a particular interest in ingredients from the Basque region of France, where her family is originally from.

In 2008, Darroze opened her second restaurant, the eponymous Hélène Darroze at the Connaught, located in the prestigious Connaught Hotel in London. This restaurant quickly gained a reputation as one of the best restaurants in the city, and it was awarded two Michelin stars in 2011. In 2015, the restaurant was awarded its third Michelin star, making Darroze the first female chef in the UK to hold three Michelin stars at the same time.

Darroze has since opened several other restaurants, including Jòia, a more casual restaurant in Paris, and Marsan par Hélène Darroze, located in the heart of Paris. She also opened a restaurant in Moscow in 2019, which has been well-received by both critics and diners.

Awards and Achievements:

Over the course of her career, Darroze has received numerous awards and accolades for her culinary skills. In addition to her Michelin stars, she has been awarded the title of “World’s Best Female Chef” by The World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2015.
