Early Life

Shurooq Al Balushi was born in the year 1982 in the capital city of Muscat, Oman. She spent her childhood in a family that valued food and its cultural significance. Her mother, who was an excellent cook, played a pivotal role in shaping her love for cooking.

Growing up, Shurooq was fascinated by the various dishes that her mother cooked, and she would often help her out in the kitchen. Shurooq Al Balushi graduated from Sultan Qaboos University in 2004, where she earned a degree in Business Administration. However, despite her degree, Shurooq had already decided that her true passion lay in the world of cooking.

After completing her studies, Shurooq Al Balushi began her career in the food industry as a food blogger. She started a blog called “Chef Shurooq” in which she shared her recipes, food experiences, and culinary insights. Her blog quickly gained popularity, and she began to receive positive feedback from her readers.

Shurooq’s success as a food blogger led to various opportunities in the food industry. She started to receive invitations to participate in food events and festivals, where she showcased her culinary skills. Her unique approach to cooking, which fused traditional Omani flavors with modern techniques, drew praise from both the public and food critics.


In 2014, Shurooq Al Balushi decided to take her passion for food to the next level by opening her restaurant, “Bait Al Luban.” The restaurant, which is located in the heart of Muscat, offers a contemporary take on traditional Omani cuisine.

Bait Al Luban quickly gained a reputation for its exceptional food, and Shurooq’s entrepreneurial skills were recognized. In 2016, she was named “Young Entrepreneur of the Year” by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The award was a testament to Shurooq’s hard work and dedication to the food industry.

Television Appearances

Shurooq Al Balushi’s success in the food industry caught the attention of television producers, and she began to appear on various food-related shows. In 2017, she was a judge on the Middle Eastern edition of the cooking competition show “MasterChef.”
