Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 200g sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 120g all-purpose flour
  • 50g hazelnuts, chopped
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt for sprinkling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt chocolate and butter: In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pot of simmering water or in the microwave. Stir until smooth.
  3. Mix the wet ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until combined. Add the vanilla extract and the melted chocolate mixture. Stir well.
  4. Add dry ingredients: Sift the flour and a pinch of salt over the wet ingredients. Fold the flour into the mixture until just combined.
  5. Incorporate hazelnuts: Gently fold the chopped hazelnuts into the batter.
  6. Bake the brownies: Pour the brownie mixture into the prepared baking pan. Sprinkle sea salt on top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with just a few crumbs.
  7. Cool and serve: Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before slicing into squares.

Heat your slow cooker if you need to. Fry the beef in batches in 2 tbsp oil until it is browned all over and tip into the slow cooker. Put the remaining oil in the frying pan and fry the onion over a low heat until it starts to soften. Add the garlic and ginger and fry for 1 minute.
