Chunks of paneer coated in a cornmeal batter and fried makes for a perfect starter on a stick for a party.

PANEER CORN DOG

Ingredients

500 grams cottage cheese (paneer), cut into 4 inch thick strips
1 cup corn meal (makai ka atta)
3 tbsps refined flour (maida)
¼ tsp paprika
A pinch of baking soda
¼ tsp baking powder
Salt to taste
1½ cups buttermilk
Mustard sauce to serve
Tomato ketchup to serve

Method

1. In a jar, add corn meal, refined flour, paprika, baking soda, baking powder, salt and mix well.
2. Add buttermilk and mix well to form a thick batter. Set aside.
3. Insert a satay stick in the center of each paneer piece and set aside.
4. Heat sufficient oil in a wok, dip each paneer piece into the prepared batter and drop it into the hot oil. Deep fry till golden and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
5. Serve hot with mustard sauce and tomato ketchup.
