A twist to the popular recipe of bread pakora with the addition of shredded spinach in it.

PALAK BREAD PAKORA

Ingredients

4 white bread slices, cut into triangles
1 cup shredded spinach (palak)
1½ cups gram flour (besan)
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ teaspoon garam masala powder
Salt to taste
A pinch baking soda
Oil for deep-frying
Chaat masala for sprinkling

Method

1. Mix together gram flour, chilli powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, salt, baking soda and spinach with sufficient water to make a batter of coating consistency.
2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
3. Dip bread triangles in batter and deep-fry in hot oil till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
4. Sprinkle chaat masala on top and serve hot with tomato ketchup and green chutney.
