Deep fried chicken cubes tossed in sweet and spicy honey garlic sauce. A must try !
HONEY GARLIC CHICKEN
Ingredients
400 grams boneless chicken, cut into 1 inch pieces
2-3 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
2 tablespoons oil + for deep frying
1½ tablespoons cornflour
Salt to taste
1 egg
1 medium onion, cut into cubes and layers separated
1 medium green capsicum, cut into cubes
1 teaspoon red chilli flakes
1 tablespoon roasted white sesame seeds (safed til)
1½ cups chicken stock
1 tablespoon soy sauce
White pepper powder to taste
1 tablespoon cornflour slurry
Sliced spring onion greens for garnishing
Method
1. Put chicken pieces in a bowl. Add cornflour, salt and egg and mix well.
2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Deep-fry chicken pieces till crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
3. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a non-stick wok. Add garlic, onion, capsicum, chilli flakes and sesame seeds, mix and sauté for a minute.
4. Add ½ chicken stock and soy sauce, mix and cook for a minute. Add remaining chicken stock, pepper powder and salt, mix and simmer for 2 minutes.
5. Add fried chicken pieces, cornflour slurry and honey, mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
6. Garnish with spring onion greens and serve hot.
