Ramsay grew up in a working-class family in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. His father, Gordon James Ramsay, was a former football player and shopkeeper, and his mother, Helen Cosgrove, was a nurse. Ramsay was the second of four children and showed an interest in cooking at a young age. He helped his mother in the kitchen and often cooked for his family.

After finishing school, Ramsay studied hotel management at North Oxfordshire Technical College. He worked as a commis chef in various restaurants before moving to London, where he worked under some of the city’s top chefs, including Marco Pierre White and Albert Roux.

In 1993, Ramsay became head chef of the newly opened Aubergine restaurant, where he earned two Michelin stars. He went on to open his restaurant, Gordon Ramsay, in 1998, which also received two Michelin stars. Ramsay’s restaurants are known for their elegant and innovative dishes, using the freshest ingredients and techniques.

Ramsay’s success as a chef led him to television, where he became a household name.
