Érick Jacquin is a renowned chef and television personality in Brazil, known for his skills in French cuisine and his appearances on several cooking shows. He was born on October 26, 1964, in Saint-Étienne, France.
Jacquin began his culinary journey at the age of 14 when he started working as an apprentice in a restaurant in Roanne, France. He then went on to work in some of the best restaurants in France, including the Michelin-starred restaurant Jamin, where he worked under the tutelage of Chef Joel Robuchon.
In 1994, Jacquin moved to Brazil and opened his first restaurant, Le Coq Hardy, in São Paulo. The restaurant was an instant success and was awarded a Michelin star in 1995, making Jacquin the first French chef to receive this honor in Brazil.
Jacquin has also worked as a consultant for several restaurants in Brazil and has been a judge on the Brazilian version of the television show MasterChef since 2014. He has also been a judge on the show “Pesadelo na Cozinha” (Kitchen Nightmare), where he helps struggling restaurants get back on track.
In addition to his work on television, Jacquin has authored several cookbooks, including “O melhor da culinária francesa no Brasil” (The Best of French Cuisine in Brazil) and “A French Touch in Brazil”.
Jacquin’s success in Brazil has led to him being awarded the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite Agricole by the French government in 2013 and the Medalha Anchieta, the highest honor awarded by the City of São Paulo, in 2018.
Jacquin is married and has two children.
