Chef Alexander Rappoport is a prominent restaurateur and culinary expert who has made a name for himself in the culinary world. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his culinary achievements, and his restaurants have become some of the most sought-after dining destinations in the city.

Early Life:

Alexander Rappoport was born in 1964 in Moscow, Russia. He grew up in a Jewish family, and his parents were both engineers. From an early age, he was exposed to cooking and the restaurant industry, as his parents owned a small restaurant in Moscow. He would often help out in the restaurant after school and on weekends, and it was there that he developed a passion for cooking.

Education:

After completing his secondary education, Rappoport attended the Moscow Culinary School, where he received formal training in the culinary arts. He graduated with honors and went on to work at several prestigious restaurants in Moscow, including the famous Cafe Pushkin. He also spent time studying in France and Italy, where he honed his skills and learned about the culinary traditions of these countries.

Career:

After gaining extensive experience working at various restaurants, Rappoport decided to open his own restaurant. In 1999, he opened Dr. Zhivago, a restaurant that was inspired by the novel of the same name by Boris Pasternak. The restaurant quickly became a popular destination for locals and tourists alike, and Rappoport’s reputation as a talented chef began to grow.

Over the years, Rappoport has opened several other restaurants in Moscow, including Cafe Vogue, Beluga, and Black Thai. Each restaurant has its own unique style and menu, and they all reflect Rappoport’s passion for food and his desire to create memorable dining experiences for his customers.

In addition to his work in the restaurant industry, Rappoport has also authored several cookbooks and has been a judge on several cooking competition shows. He is widely respected as an authority on Russian cuisine and has been featured in numerous publications and media outlets.

Awards and Accolades:

Rappoport’s contributions to the restaurant industry have been recognized with numerous awards and accolades. In 2004, he was awarded the Order of Friendship by the Russian government for his contribution to the development of the restaurant industry. He has also been recognized by the National Restaurant Association with the “Restaurateur of the Year” award and has been named one of the top 100 chefs in the world by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
