Fahad Al Raisi is one of Oman’s most famous chefs. Born in Muscat, Oman, in 1980, Chef Fahad’s love for food and cooking began at a young age, when he would help his mother and grandmother in the kitchen. He credits them with teaching him the basics of Omani cooking and inspiring him to pursue a career as a chef.

Early Life and Education:

Growing up in Oman, Chef Fahad was exposed to a rich culinary heritage that drew influences from the surrounding regions, including Persia, India, and East Africa. He was fascinated by the diversity of flavors and ingredients and spent much of his childhood experimenting with different combinations of spices and herbs.

After completing his secondary education, Chef Fahad decided to pursue a degree in culinary arts from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France. He was determined to learn from the best and immerse himself in the techniques and traditions of classic French cooking.


After completing his studies in France, Chef Fahad returned to Oman and began working at the Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa in Muscat. He quickly rose through the ranks and became the head chef of the resort’s signature restaurant, Sultanah.

Under Chef Fahad’s leadership, Sultanah became one of the most popular fine-dining destinations in Oman, earning numerous accolades and awards for its innovative Omani cuisine. Chef Fahad’s approach to cooking was rooted in the use of fresh, locally sourced ingredients, and he placed a strong emphasis on highlighting the unique flavors and textures of Omani cuisine.

In 2012, Chef Fahad was invited to represent Oman at the prestigious Bocuse d’Or cooking competition in Lyon, France. The Bocuse d’Or is considered one of the most prestigious culinary competitions in the world, and Chef Fahad was the first Omani chef to participate in the event.

Despite facing stiff competition from some of the world’s best chefs, Chef Fahad’s innovative approach to Omani cuisine earned him a spot on the podium, where he was awarded the bronze medal.

Following his success at the Bocuse d’Or, Chef Fahad’s career continued to soar. He was invited to participate in numerous international culinary events, including the World Gourmet Summit in Singapore and the Madrid Fusion in Spain.

In 2014, Chef Fahad was appointed as the culinary ambassador of Oman, a role that involved promoting Omani cuisine and culture around the world. He was also appointed as the head judge of the popular cooking competition, MasterChef Arabia.

Today, Chef Fahad is one of Oman’s most beloved and respected chefs, and he continues to inspire a new generation of culinary talent through his work as a mentor and teacher.

Despite his busy career, Chef Fahad remains deeply connected to his roots and is a proud ambassador of Omani culture and traditions. He is also an avid traveler and draws inspiration from the various cuisines and cultures he encounters on his journeys.
