Groundnut Tikkis
A very popular breakfast or snack option, the tikkis are full of nutrients such as groundnut, which is a rich source of vitamin B3 required for producing and utilizing energy from the food that you eat. Get your metabolism moving!
Preparation time: 10 minutes.
Cooking time: 10 minutes.
Makes 8 tikkis.
½ cup roasted and powdered peanuts
½ cup besan (Bengal gram flour)
½ cup chopped spinach (palak)
5 tbsp whole wheat flour (gehun ka atta)
1½ tsp finely chopped green chillies
1 tbsp lemon juice
Salt to taste
1 tsp warm oil for kneading
2½ tsp oil for greasing and cooking
For serving
Green chutney
1. Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl and knead into a soft dough by adding little water.
2. Add 1 tsp of warm oil and again knead well.
3. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions and shape them into 50 mm. (2″) diameter thin flat round tikkis.
4. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it using ½ tsp of oil and cook each tikki, using ¼ tsp of oil till it turns golden brown in colour from both the sides.
5. Repeat step 4 to make one more batch of tikkis.
Serve hot with green chutney.
