You can never have enough of fried foods, and this Rice Vada is something exclusive for you to enjoy this monsoon!

RICE VADA

Ingredients

1 cup rice, soaked overnight and drained
5 tbsps skinless split black gram (urad dal), soaked overnight and drained
1 large tomato, chopped
½ inch ginger piece
4-5 garlic cloves
½ lemon size tamarind ball
Salt to taste
3 tbsps freshly chopped coriander leaves
1 medium onion, chopped
¼ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
1-2 green chillies, chopped
½ tsp Tata Sampann Turmeric Powder
Oil for deep frying

Method

1. In a blender jar, add urad dal, rice and blend to a coarse mixture. Add 3 tbsps water and blend again to smooth paste.
2. For the tomato chutney, add tomato in another blender jar. Add ginger, garlic, tamarind and a little water. Blend to a fine paste and transfer into a bowl.
3. Add salt and mix, add 1 tbsp chopped coriander and mix well. Set aside.
4. Take the prepared rice-urad dal mixture in another bowl. Add onion, ajwain, green chillies and remaining chopped coriander.
5. Add Tata Sampann Turmeric Powder, salt, and mix till well combined. Add a pinch of baking soda and mix well.
6. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, drop in portions of the dough and deep fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.
7. Serve hot with the prepared tomato chutney.
