Shaped like a ribbon, this farsaan is a must have on your snack platter this Diwali
RIBBON PAKODA
Ingredients
1 cup split skinless green gram (moong dal) flour
1 cup rice flour
A large pinch of asafoetida (hing)
1½ tsps red chilli powder
Salt to taste
2 tsps oil + for deep frying + for greasing
Method
1. Mix together moong dal flour and rice flour in a parat. Add a large pinch of asafoetida and red chilli powder, salt and mix well. Make a well in the centre and add 2 tsps oil and water and mix well. Knead to a soft dough.
2. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
3. Grease a chakli press with oil, attach a ribbon pakoda plate in it. Put a portion of the dough into it and press out ribbons directly into hot oil. Deep-fry till golden and crisp, drain on absorbent paper.
