These soft and fluffy buns are infused with the warm, aromatic flavor of cardamom. They’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack.
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F to 115°F)
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, sugar, cardamom, and salt. Let stand for 10 minutes, or until foamy.
- Stir in the flour, melted butter, and egg. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape into 12-15 equal-sized balls.
- Place the balls of dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Cover the baking sheet with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips
- For a sweeter flavor, add more sugar to the dough.
- You can glaze the buns with a simple sugar glaze or a lemon glaze.
- To store the buns, place them in an airtight container at room temperature.
