Recipe Description

These soft and fluffy buns are infused with the warm, aromatic flavor of cardamom. They’re perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk (110°F to 115°F)
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, sugar, cardamom, and salt. Let stand for 10 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. Stir in the flour, melted butter, and egg. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and shape into 12-15 equal-sized balls.
  5. Place the balls of dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Cover the baking sheet with a clean kitchen towel and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Tips

  • For a sweeter flavor, add more sugar to the dough.
  • You can glaze the buns with a simple sugar glaze or a lemon glaze.
  • To store the buns, place them in an airtight container at room temperature.
