Punjab Food Authority has emerged positively in these past few years. After banning banaspati ghee production and sale in Punjab and they have given a time period of three years to shift 70 percent ghee consumption to edible vegetable oil. Now another release has been published by PFA for oil and ghee industries.
According to the PFA:
It is to inform all oil and ghee production industries that in the meeting held on 24th July 2017 by PFA and Pakistan Banaspati Ghee manufacture association they have decided that quality adjustment time for all the oil and ghee companies are over. So, now PFA will take sample from each oil and ghee company for a laboratory test. For that it is prescribed to all the ghee and oil manufacturer companies representatives to contact PFA till 10 October 2017. On 15th of October 2017 in the presence of specific company representative, PFA will gather samples from market of their oil or ghee for the laboratory test and will be sent to 2 different laboratories that is certified by ISO-17025 and Pakistan National Accreditation Council so that result wont be hidden from anyone. After contacting PFA by the companies, PFA itself would be responsible to gather samples for laboratory testing.
During this year The Punjab Food Authority sealed several restaurants, shops and canteens for sale of substandard food commodities and prohibited items in various cities of Punjab trying to make sure the quality of the food and products in the province.
