Early Life and Career

Chef Koluu was born in Sri Lanka, where she spent her childhood immersed in the vibrant and diverse food culture of her country. From an early age, she showed a keen interest in cooking, spending hours in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother, learning to prepare traditional Sri Lankan dishes like rice and curry, hoppers, and string hoppers.

After completing her education, Chef Koluu decided to pursue her passion for cooking and enrolled in a culinary school in Colombo, Sri Lanka. There, she learned the fundamentals of cooking and developed a strong foundation in Sri Lankan cuisine. She then started working in various restaurants and hotels across Sri Lanka, where she gained valuable experience and honed her skills as a chef.

International Experience

In 1999, Chef Koluu decided to venture out of Sri Lanka and explore the culinary world beyond her homeland. She moved to London, where she worked in some of the city’s top restaurants, including The Ivy, Claridge’s, and The Wolseley. During her time in London, Chef Koluu developed a passion for French cuisine and spent time learning from some of the best French chefs in the city.

In 2003, Chef Koluu moved to New York City, where she worked in some of the city’s most iconic restaurants, including Per Se and Eleven Madison Park. Her time in New York City exposed her to a diverse range of cuisines and allowed her to experiment with different flavors and ingredients.

Cookbook Author

In 2007, Chef Koluu released her first cookbook, “The Flavors of Sri Lanka.” The book was a huge success, receiving critical acclaim and winning several awards. The book showcased the rich and diverse flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine and introduced the world to the country’s unique culinary traditions.

Following the success of her first cookbook, Chef Koluu went on to publish several more books, including “The Global Kitchen,” which explores the fusion of international cuisines, and “The Art of Entertaining,” which provides tips and recipes for hosting unforgettable dinner parties.

Television Personality

In addition to her successful career as a chef and cookbook author, Chef Koluu is also a popular television personality. She has appeared on several cooking shows, including “Iron Chef America,” “Top Chef,” and “MasterChef.”
