Rhodes began his career in earnest in 1986, when he was appointed head chef at the Castle Hotel in Taunton, Somerset. He quickly gained a reputation for his innovative and contemporary approach to cooking, and his popularity grew rapidly. In 1990, he was awarded his first Michelin star, and he went on to receive a total of five throughout his career.

In 1996, Rhodes opened his first restaurant, City Rhodes, in London. The restaurant was an instant success and received critical acclaim for its modern British cuisine. He went on to open several more restaurants, including Rhodes in the Square, Rhodes 24, and Rhodes W1.

Rhodes also made numerous television appearances throughout his career, including on shows such as MasterChef, Hell’s Kitchen, and Rhodes Across India. He was known for his friendly and approachable demeanor, as well as his passion for cooking.
