Andrew McConnell is a well-known Australian chef, restaurateur, and cookbook author. Born in Melbourne in 1976, McConnell started his career as an apprentice at The Grand Hyatt Melbourne. He then went on to work at various restaurants in London, including the two-Michelin-starred restaurant The Square, where he was a sous chef.

In 2001, McConnell returned to Melbourne and opened his first restaurant, Cutler & Co., in the suburb of Fitzroy. Cutler & Co. quickly became known for its innovative cuisine, and it has since earned numerous awards and accolades, including three hats in the Good Food Guide.

Since then, McConnell has opened several other restaurants in Melbourne, including Cumulus Inc., which serves modern Australian cuisine in a relaxed, bistro-style setting, and Supernormal, which offers Asian-inspired dishes. He has also opened a wine bar called Marion, a cocktail bar called Gimlet at Cavendish House, and a seafood-focused restaurant called The Atlantic.

McConnell is known for his commitment to using local, seasonal ingredients and his innovative approach to cooking. He has published two cookbooks: “Cutler & Co: The Cookbook” and “Supernormal: The Cookbook.”

In addition to his work in the restaurant industry, McConnell is a mentor to young chefs and is involved in various philanthropic endeavors. He has also appeared on several cooking shows, including MasterChef Australia.

Andrew McConnell’s culinary expertise has made him a household name in the Australian restaurant industry, and his restaurants continue to draw diners from around the world.
