CHAKLI STICKS
Ingredients
4 cups rice
1 cup split skinless black gram (urad dal)
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon cumin (jeera) powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons butter
Oil for greasing and deep-frying
Method
1. Dry roast rice and black gram separately. Remove from heat, cool and grind together to a fine powder. Transfer in a bowl.
2. Add chilli powder, cumin powder, salt and butter and knead well. Add ½ cup water and knead to a soft dough.
3. Grease a chakli press with some oil and fill in the dough.
4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Press in chakli strips and deep-fry till golden brown. Drain on absorbent paper and cool.
5. Serve.
