Masala Grilled Sandwich is a perfect example of finger food. Tasty, tangy and delectable, it can be enjoyed thoroughly due to its complex flavour !
MASALA CHEESE GRILLED SANDWICH
Ingredients
For one portion
3 sandwich bread slices
2 medium potatoes, boiled, peeled and grated
Butter as required
1 tablespoon oil
½ teaspoon mustard seeds
¼ teaspoon asafoetida (hing)
1 tablespoon ginger-garlic-green chilli-coriander paste
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
¼ cup shredded cabbage
½ small green capsicum, cut in strips
½ small tomato, finely chopped
1 teaspoon chaat masala + for sprinkling
Green chutney as required
Grated processed cheese as required
Method
1. Heat a sandwich griller.
2. Spread some butter on a bread slice and grill till grill marks appear. Set aside.
3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add asafoetida, ginger-garlic green chilli-coriander paste and turmeric powder, mix and sauté for a few seconds.
4. Add potatoes and salt, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
5. Mix together cabbage, capsicum, tomato, salt and 1 teaspoon chaat masala in a bowl.
6. Apply some green chutney on a bread slice. Top with a generous portion of potato mixture, some cheese and place the grilled bread slice.
7. Top with remaining potato mixture and vegetable mixture. Sprinkle some chaat masala, cheese and cover with the remaining bread slice.
8. Apply some more butter on top, place in the griller, cover and grill till well done.
9. Grate some more cheese on top and serve immediately.
