This crunchy snack is perfect to go along with your cup of Masala Chai.
GANTHIA
Ingredients
1½ cups gram flour (besan)
2 ½ tbsps + 1 tsp oil + to deep fry
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
Salt to taste
½ tsp red chilli powder
Tea to serve
Method
1. Heat 2½ tbsps oil in a non-stick pan on low heat.
2. Take gram flour in a bowl and add the hot oil, turmeric powder, carom seeds, salt and red chilli powder. Add little water and mix well. Add 1 tsp oil and combine well to make a semi soft mixture.
3. Brush oil inside a chakli press fitted with sev attachment. Grease palms with oil. Shape mixture into thick long cylinder and place inside the chakli press.
4. Heat remaining oil in a kadai, pipe out the mixture and fry till golden. Remove and drain on an absorbent paper. Set aside to cool down.
5. Break the ganthia into pieces.
6. Serve with tea.
