A popular breakfast recipe in Indian households of savoury pancakes made using gram flour.
BESAN OMELETTE
Ingredients
1½ cups gram flour (besan)
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
½ teaspoon cumin (jeera) powder
1 medium tomato, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
Salt to taste
½ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
Oil for cooking
Method
1. Whisk together gram flour, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, green chillies, cumin powder, tomato, onion and salt with sufficient water to make a batter. Add carom seeds and whisk well.
2. Het some oil in a non-stick pan. Pour a ladleful of batter on it, spread into a disc and cook till well browned from both the sides.
3. Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
