An Idli recipe like none other!
SPOT IDLI
Ingredients
Ready-made idli batter as required
2 tbsps gun powder (molagapodi)
2 tsps oil + drizzling
1-2 green chillies, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
Coriander leaves
Salt to taste
Coconut chutney to serve
Method
1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add green chillies, onion, and sauté till translucent.
2. Add tomato and mix well. Add salt, mix well and cook till pulpy.
3. Add Molagapodi, mix well and add ¼ cup water, mix well and spread the mixture evenly. Cook for 2-3 miniutes.
4. Meanwhile, add salt to the idli batter and mix well. Add ladleful of batter on to the onion-tomato mixture. Cover and cook for 6-8 minutes.
5. Flip each idlis, drizzle a little oil and cook for 2-3 minutes. Take if off the heat.
6. Serve hot with coconut chutney.
