A dish for prawn and potato lovers alike.

ALOO PRAWN MASALA

Ingredients

16-20 medium prawns, shelled and deveined
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp chopped garlic
2 medium onions, chopped
3 small potatoes, cut into 1 cm cubes
1 medium tomato, chopped
2-3 green chillies, chopped
½ tbsps red chilli powder
1 tsp coriander powder
2 tsps cumin powder
5-6 kokum petals
Chopped fresh coriander as required

Method

1. In a bowl, add prawns, salt, ¼ tsp turmeric powder and mix well. Marinate and set aside for 20-30 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add garlic, sauté. Add onion and cook till golden brown in colour.
3. Add the potatoes and sauté for a minute. Add the tomatoes, green chillies, salt and cook till pulpy.
4. Add the red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and the remaining turmeric powder. Add kokum and mix well. Add ½ cup of water and cook till the potatoes are almost done.
5. Add the marinated prawns, sauté for a minute. Add the coriander leaves and cook for 4-5 minutes.
6. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.
