Early Life and Education

Simon Taxacher was born in 1972 in the town of Hopfgarten, located in the Kitzbühel district of Tyrol, Austria. He grew up in a family of restaurateurs, and from an early age, he was fascinated by the world of food and cooking. His parents owned a restaurant, and he spent most of his childhood helping out in the kitchen and dining area. His passion for cooking grew as he learned more about the art of cooking and the hospitality industry.

After finishing high school, Simon Taxacher decided to pursue a career in the culinary arts. He enrolled in a professional cooking school in Kitzbühel, where he honed his skills and learned the basics of cooking. He was an excellent student and quickly became known for his talent and dedication to his craft.

Early Career

After completing his education, Simon Taxacher began his career as an apprentice in a local restaurant in Kitzbühel. He worked long hours and learned the ropes of the industry. It was during this time that he realized that he wanted to become a chef and open his own restaurant one day.

In 1993, he moved to Salzburg to work at the Hotel Goldener Hirsch, where he gained valuable experience working alongside some of Austria’s most renowned chefs. He spent three years there, learning new techniques and refining his skills. He then moved to the Hotel Schloss Fuschl, where he worked as the chef de cuisine for three years.

In 1999, Simon Taxacher became the executive chef at the Relais & Châteaux Rosengarten in Kirchberg, Austria. He was only 27 years old at the time, but he was determined to make his mark on the industry. He quickly gained a reputation for his innovative cuisine, and his restaurant became one of the most popular in the region. It was during this time that he started to win awards and recognition for his work.

Career Achievements

Simon Taxacher’s rise to fame in the culinary world was nothing short of remarkable. Over the years, he has won numerous awards and accolades for his work, including three Michelin stars and five Gault-Millau toques. He has also been named “Chef of the Year” by several prestigious publications.

In 2003, Simon Taxacher’s restaurant at the Relais & Châteaux Rosengarten was awarded its first Michelin star. The following year, he was named “Chef of the Year” by the Gault-Millau Guide. He continued to receive awards and recognition for his work, and in 2008, he earned his second Michelin star. In 2010, he opened his own restaurant, the Simon Taxacher Restaurant, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2012.

In 2015, Simon Taxacher’s eponymous restaurant was awarded three Michelin stars, making him one of only four chefs in Austria to achieve this distinction. This was a major milestone in his career and a testament to his hard work and dedication to his craft.
