Early Life and Education

Ishtiaque Hossain was born on December 3, 1980, in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He grew up in a middle-class family and was interested in cooking from a very young age. He was always eager to help his mother in the kitchen and often experimented with different ingredients to create new dishes.

After completing his high school education, Ishtiaque decided to pursue his passion for cooking and enrolled in the Institute of Hotel Management, Catering Technology, and Applied Nutrition in Kolkata, India. He studied there for three years and graduated with a degree in hotel management.


After completing his studies, Ishtiaque Hossain returned to Bangladesh and started his career as a chef. He began working at a small restaurant in Dhaka and quickly made a name for himself with his exceptional cooking skills. His unique recipes and innovative presentation techniques soon caught the attention of food critics and culinary experts.

In 2005, Ishtiaque Hossain opened his own restaurant, called “The Spice Room,” in Dhaka. The restaurant quickly became popular among food enthusiasts, and within a year, it was rated as one of the best restaurants in the city by leading food critics.

Ishtiaque’s cooking style is a fusion of traditional Bengali cuisine and modern international cuisine. He believes in using fresh and locally sourced ingredients to create dishes that are not only delicious but also healthy. In 2010, Ishtiaque Hossain was invited to participate in the prestigious “Iron Chef” competition, which was being held in Tokyo, Japan. He was one of the only two chefs from Bangladesh who had ever been invited to participate in the competition. Despite facing tough competition from some of the best chefs in the world, Ishtiaque Hossain managed to impress the judges with his unique recipes and cooking techniques, and he was declared the winner of the competition.
