David Chang is a Korean-American chef, restaurateur, and media personality. He was born on August 5, 1977, in Vienna, Virginia, USA.

Chang graduated from Trinity College in Connecticut in 1999 with a degree in religious studies. He went on to attend the French Culinary Institute in New York City and graduated in 2001. After graduation, he worked under chefs such as Daniel Boulud and Tom Colicchio.

In 2004, Chang opened his first restaurant, Momofuku Noodle Bar, in New York City’s East Village. The restaurant’s innovative take on ramen quickly earned it a cult following and critical acclaim. Chang’s success with Momofuku Noodle Bar led to the opening of several other restaurants under the Momofuku umbrella, including Momofuku Ssäm Bar, Momofuku Ko, and Momofuku Milk Bar.
