Daniel Humm is a Swiss-born chef who has made a name for himself in the United States as the chef and co-owner of the three Michelin-starred restaurant Eleven Madison Park in New York City. Humm was born on March 12, 1976, in Strengelbach, Switzerland, and began his culinary career at the age of 14, when he began an apprenticeship at a restaurant in Switzerland.

After completing his apprenticeship, Humm spent time working in some of the best kitchens in Switzerland, including Gasthaus zum Gupf in Rehetobel and Restaurant Pont de Brent in Montreux. In 2003, he moved to the United States to become the executive chef at Campton Place in San Francisco. During his time there, he earned two Michelin stars and was named one of Food & Wine magazine’s “Best New Chefs.”

In 2006, Humm moved to New York City to take over as the executive chef at Eleven Madison Park. Under his leadership, the restaurant quickly became one of the best in the city, earning three Michelin stars and numerous other accolades, including being named the “Best Restaurant in the World” by the World’s 50 Best Restaurants in 2017.

Humm is known for his modern take on classic cuisine, with a focus on seasonal, locally sourced ingredients. He is also a champion of sustainability and is committed to reducing the environmental impact of his restaurant. In addition to Eleven Madison Park, Humm also co-owns and operates NoMad in New York City and Los Angeles, as well as Davies and Brook in London.

Humm has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career, including the James Beard Foundation Award for Outstanding Chef in 2012 and the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. He has also authored several cookbooks, including “Eleven Madison Park: The Cookbook” and “The NoMad Cookbook.”
