Filter Coffee is a classic South Indian beverage prepared by slowly extracting finely ground coffee with hot water using a traditional filter. This method produces a rich, aromatic decoction that forms the base of the drink. The decoction is blended with hot milk and sweetened to taste, creating a balanced cup that is bold yet smooth. Unlike instant or machine-brewed coffee, filter brewing highlights depth, body, and layered flavor. The careful brewing process allows natural oils and subtle notes to develop fully. Served piping hot, Filter Coffee is enjoyed throughout the day for its comforting taste, gentle bitterness, and energizing warmth that pairs well with light snacks or breakfast dishes.

Directions

Step 1

Assemble the coffee filter with the upper chamber placed securely over the lower collecting chamber. Add the measured Coffee evenly into the upper section and level the surface gently without pressing. Heat the Water until it reaches a rolling boil.

Step 2

Carefully pour the hot Water over the Coffee in a slow, steady stream. Close the filter with its lid and allow the coffee to drip naturally into the lower chamber. Let the extraction continue undisturbed until all liquid has passed through, forming a strong decoction.

Step 3

Warm the Milk in a separate pan until hot but not boiling. In a serving cup, add the required amount of coffee decoction and Sugar. Stir thoroughly until the Sugar dissolves completely.

Step 4

Pour the hot Milk into the sweetened decoction.

Step 5

Stir well to combine and adjust sweetness if needed.

Step 6

Serve immediately while hot for the best aroma and flavor.
