Directions

Soak navy beans in water overnight or for at least 8 hours. Drain and rinse.

Step 2

Preheat oven to 150°C (300°F). In a large ovenproof pot, cook bacon and onions until softened.

Step 3

Add soaked beans, molasses, brown sugar, mustard, salt, pepper, and enough water to cover the beans.

Step 4

Bring to a simmer on the stovetop, then cover and transfer to oven.

Step 5

Bake slowly for 4–5 hours, stirring occasionally, until beans are tender and sauce is thickened.

Step 6

Adjust seasoning before serving
