Directions

Step 1

Heat oil in a large pot over medium flame.

Step 2

Add cumin seeds and let them splutter for a few seconds.

Step 3

Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.

Step 4

Stir in ginger and garlic; cook until the raw smell disappears.

Step 5

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and the oil separates.

Step 6

Add mutton and stir well to coat with the masala.

Step 7

Mix in salt, red chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and fenugreek leaves.

Step 8

Cover and cook the mutton on low flame for about 45 minutes or until tender, adding water if needed.

Step 9

Add peeled and cubed potatoes. Mix and cook for another 20 minutes until the potatoes are soft.

Step 10

Garnish with fresh coriander and serve hot with naan or rice.
