Directions

Step 1

Rinse the moong dal under cold water until the water runs clear. Set aside to drain.

In a pot, heat oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter.

Add chopped onions and garlic, sauté until onions are translucent.

Add turmeric and stir well.

Add moong dal and mix to coat the dal with spices.

Add water and salt, bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer until dal is soft.

Add chopped coriander leaves and green chilies, cook for another 5 minutes. Serve hot.
