Directions

Step 1

Wash the moong dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 30 minutes.

Step 2

Boil the soaked dal with 3 cups of water, turmeric, and salt until it becomes soft.

Step 3

In a separate pan, heat oil and add cumin seeds. Let them crackle.

Step 4

Add finely chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.

Step 5

Stir in the minced garlic and ginger and cook for another 2 minutes.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and oil starts separating.

Step 7

Mix in coriander powder and sauté for 1 more minute to release flavors.

Combine the cooked dal with the masala and stir well.

Simmer for 10 minutes on low heat to let flavors blend.

Adjust salt and consistency as desired.
