Lemon Verbena Mint Detox Tea Recipe

  • 1 sprig fresh mint (about 15 leaves)
  • 1 teaspoon honey, or 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 sprig fresh lemon verbena (about 10 leaves)
  • to taste (optional)


Pour boiling water over verbena and mint sprigs, steep until desired flavor is reached for 3 to 4 minutes. Stir in honey.

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes. Add sugar, orange juice, lemon juice, cloves and cinnamon sticks. Cover, and steep for 1 hour.

Gently simmer over medium-low heat for 15 minutes. Remove from heat. Remove and discard solids. Divide among 6 mugs or heatproof glasses, and top each with a dollop of whipped cream and a few honeyed walnuts.

In a saucepan, heat milk until hot, but don’t boil. Whisk in the chocolate and the crushed peppermint candies until they are melted and smooth. Pour hot cocoa into four mugs and garnish with whipped cream. Serve each with a candy cane stirring stick.
