Ingredients

  • For the Toffee Apple Filling:
    • 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1/4 cup toffee sauce
  • For the Puff Pastry:
    • 1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
    • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Toffee Apple Filling: In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and caramelized. Stir in the toffee sauce and cook for another 1-2 minutes until combined. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Puff Pastry: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Unroll the puff pastry sheet on a floured surface and cut it into 6 equal squares or rectangles (depending on your preferred size).
  3. Assemble the Turnover Pie: Spoon a generous amount of the toffee apple mixture into the center of each pastry square. Fold the corners over to form a triangle or rectangular shape, sealing the edges tightly with a fork. Place the turnovers onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Egg Wash: In a small bowl, whisk the egg and brush it over the top of each turnover for a golden finish.
  5. Bake the Turnovers: Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and crispy.
  6. Serve: Allow the turnovers to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, drizzle with extra toffee sauce or serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
