This Lemon Ginger Morning Detox Drink is something that everyone must include in their lifestyle. It’s a morning ritual. You can make it freshly in the morning and drink it warm or fill it in a bottle and keep it inside the fridge and drink it chilled. It’s your own choice, but it’s one of the most popular detox water.

This water has many health benefits. Lemons are an excellent source of Vitamin C, and they have antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Ginger is a potent anti-inflammatory and it gives a boost to your immune system.

To make this water all you need is the juice of three lemons, 1 inch of ginger (peeled and crushed) 1 tablespoon honey (to give it a sweet edge) 1 pinch of turmeric. Put all the ingredients in 2 cups of water and let it boil, till it reduces to 1 cup. Drink this regularly and feel the difference in your energy levels and health 🙂

To make the pastry, cream the butter and sugar with a wooden spoon or in an electric mixer until light and creamy. Add the egg yolks and 35ml water and mix well until all the liquid has been incorporated. Gradually mix in the flour and cocoa powder until a paste is formed. It will be quite a soft dough.

Wrap the pastry in foil, flatten it with your hand and chill for 1 hr. The pastry can be made two days ahead, though in this case, you may want to remove it from the fridge for a few minutes before rolling to soften it.

Sprinkle your work surface with a light dusting of flour and roll out the pastry until it’s about 5mm thick. Line a 23cm tart tin with the pastry using the rolling pin to help you lift it over, pushing the pastry well into the edges and folding the excess over the top. Trim off the excess. Chill for 15 mins to relax the pastry and to help prevent it from shrinking during cooking.

Heat oven to 180C/160C fan/gas 4. Line the tart with a sheet of baking parchment (scrunch it up first to soften it), then tip in baking beans, rice or lentils and bake blind for 15 mins. Lift out the beans and bake for a further 10-12 mins until the base is dry. Allow to cool.

To make the filling, put all the ingredients in a glass or metal mixing bowl, place it over a pan of very hot water and allow them to melt together until glossy and thick. Pour into the cooled pastry case and chill for 4 hrs or overnight.

For the topping, heat the sugar in a saucepan on a medium heat, tilt the pan rather than stirring, until you have an even golden liquid caramel. Add the salt and mix well with a wooden spoon or heatproof spatula. Pour in the pecans and, mixing thoroughly, quickly pour the mixture on to a piece of baking parchment and spread out with the back of the spoon. Allow to cool thoroughly, then break or chop up into shards or chunky pieces to sprinkle over the ganache.

Heat oven to 190C/170C fan/gas 5. Lightly grease a roughly 20 x 30cm shallow ovenproof dish. Put the butter in a large saucepan and place over a low heat until just melted. Remove the butter from the heat and stir in the sugar until well combined. Whisk the eggs together in a large bowl. Gradually add the eggs to the butter and sugar, beating well with a wooden spoon in between each addition. Sift the flour and cocoa powder on top of the egg mixture, then beat hard with a wooden spoon until thoroughly combined. Pour into the prepared tin or dish and nestle the pears into the chocolate batter. Put the chocolate on a board and cut into chunky pieces roughly 1.5cm with a large knife. Scatter the chocolate pieces over the batter and sprinkle with almonds, if you like. Can be frozen at this stage. Bake in the centre of the oven for 30 mins or until the mixture is crusty on the surface and lightly cooked inside. Do not allow to overcook, as the cake will become spongy rather than gooey in the centre. Serve warm with cream or ice cream

Cook onion in the oil for 5 mins, then brown the lamb for 2-3 mins. Stir in the stock, purée and Worcestershire sauce, bring to the boil, then simmer for 15 mins until the liquid has evaporated. Remove from the heat. Add the peas and season. Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas 7. Quarter the pastry, then roll each piece into an 18cm square. Divide the mash between the squares and top with the mince mixture. Dampen the edges of the pastry, pull the 4 corners up so they meet in the centre, then press the edges firmly together to seal. Will freeze for up to 2 months. Defrost before baking. Transfer to a baking sheet, brush with egg and bake for 20 mins until golden.
