Recipe Description

This classic chocolate chip traybake is a simple and delicious treat. It’s perfect for a family gathering or a quick snack.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  7. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

Tips

  • For a richer flavor, use dark brown sugar instead of white sugar.
  • You can add other mix-ins to the batter, such as nuts, dried fruit, or sprinkles.
  • To make the traybake extra gooey, add a tablespoon of golden syrup or honey to the batter.

Fill a tall glass half full with ice. Fill to 2/3 with carbonated water. Pour in watermelon and passion fruit flavored syrups, then float the half-and-half cream on top. Stir when ready to drink.

To assemble, split the bread down one side and neatly layer in the tomato, ham, mozzarella and rocket, if using. Mix the pesto with the olive oil, drizzle over, halve and serve.
