Directions
Step 1
Clean and cut the Hilsa fish into pieces, then marinate with turmeric and salt. Set aside for 15 minutes.
Step 2
Grind mustard seeds into a fine paste using a little water to help the process.
Step 3
Heat mustard oil in a pan until it smokes slightly. Fry the fish pieces lightly and set aside.
Step 4
In the same oil, add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown. Add garlic and green chilies, sauté for another 2 minutes.
Step 5
Add the mustard paste to the pan, stirring well to mix with the onions and garlic. Cook on low heat for 5 minutes.
Step 6
Add the fried fish pieces to the pan, gently mixing them with the mustard mixture. Cook for another 10 minutes. Garnish with coriander leaves and a squeeze of lemon before serving.
