Directions

Step 1

Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear. Soak for 30 minutes, then drain.

Step 2

In a large pot, heat oil and sauté sliced onions until golden brown.

Add ginger and garlic paste, then add chicken pieces. Cook until browned.

Step 4

Add yogurt, red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, and salt. Mix well.

Add 1 cup of water, cover, and simmer the chicken until tender.

Step 6

In a separate pot, boil rice with salt until 70% cooked. Drain and set aside.

Step 7

Layer the rice over the chicken mixture, sprinkle saffron, cover, and cook on low heat for 15 minutes.

Step 8

Fluff the biryani with a fork before serving, garnish with coriander and mint leaves.
