Directions

Step 1

Soak cashews and poppy seeds in warm water for 30 minutes and grind into a fine paste.

Step 2

Marinate the chicken with yogurt, ginger, and garlic paste. Let it rest for at least 1 hour.

Slice onions thinly and fry them in ghee until golden brown. Set half aside for garnishing.

In the same pot, add whole spices like cinnamon, cardamom, and a pinch of nutmeg.

Add the marinated chicken and sauté on medium heat until the oil begins to separate.

Mix in the cashew and poppy seed paste and cook for another 10 minutes, stirring regularly.

Pour in a small amount of water to make a light gravy and cover. Simmer on low heat for 30 minutes.

Once the chicken is tender, add green chilies and remaining fried onions.

Cook for another 5 minutes uncovered.

Adjust salt and add a tablespoon of ghee on top for richness before turning off the heat.
