Directions

Step 1

Heat oil in a deep pan over medium flame. Add cumin seeds, bay leaf, and black cardamom. Sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.

Step 2

Add chopped onions and cook until golden brown, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.

Step 3

Add ginger and garlic. Cook for another 2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.

Step 4

Add minced beef and sauté for 5–7 minutes until the meat changes color and starts to brown slightly.

Step 5

Mix in salt, red chili powder, turmeric, and coriander powder. Stir well to coat the meat evenly.

Step 6

Add chopped tomatoes and green chilies. Cover and cook on low heat until tomatoes soften and blend into the masala.

Step 7

Add peeled and cubed potatoes.

Step 8

Mix thoroughly so they are coated in the spice mixture.

Step 9

Pour in half a cup of water, cover, and simmer on low heat for 25–30 minutes until potatoes are tender.

Step 10

Increase heat and cook uncovered for 5–7 minutes to evaporate excess water and intensify flavor.

Step 11

Garnish with chopped coriander (optional) and serve hot with rice or roti.
