As we welcome Ramadan every year, there’s always one item that every one awaits; Pakoras. As every Pakistani household would agree with me that there’s no Ramadan without Pakoras. From potatoes to eggs, chicken, fish etc. anything that we can think of is made into a pakora. These deep fried delish treats are not only mouth-watering but are most demanded amongst us Pakistanis.
Ramadan is the month when it is most consumed. However, these pakoras are even a treat during the rainy days and winters. Pakoras are basically street food that has been made home-made. It is simply gram flour coated over anything you like. Be it any single vegetable or a mixture of vegetables. Or it can be slices of egg or pieces of boneless chicken or diced fish fillets. These delicacies can be eaten right off the frying pan. These are served with yoghurt, ketchup or a variety of chutneys based on choice whether sweet, sour or spicy according to your taste.
Us Pakistanis have a culture of Pakoras during Iftar and without which the Iftar table seems incomplete. Keeping Ramadan aside, Pakoras will be a lifetime favorite to every household in Pakistan.
