National’s Samai Kara Kozhakattai recipe
Samai/Little millet- 1 cup
Mustard- 1/2 tsp
Channa dal- 1/2 tsp
Urad dal- 1/2 tsp
Green chillies- 2
National Red chillies- 2
Grated coconut- 3 tsp
Asafoetida- 1/2 tsp
Oil- 2 tsp
National Salt to taste
Curry leaves- a few
In a vessel add water and soak the litle millet for 10 minutes. Strain after the said time.
In a pan add oil, mustard, urad and channa dals.
Now add asafoetida, green and red chillies as well as curry leaves.
Add water and salt. Add now grated coconut.
Once the water starts boiling add strained little millet.
Cook till water is absorbed. Cool the mixture and make small balls.
Steam them for 10 minutes and serve with coconut chutney.
