Kurmura Chiwda | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

A delicious munchie made with puffed rice.



3 cups puffed rice (kurmura)
3 tbsps oil
½ cup raw peanuts with skin
½ tsp mustard seeds
2 green chillies
2 sprigs of curry leaves
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
½ tsp powdered sugar
¼ cup roasted chana dal (daalia)


1. Heat oil in a deep non-stick pan and add peanuts. Sauté till golden brown on medium heat.
2. Add mustard seeds, break and add green chillies, curry leaves and continue to sauté on low heat for 2-3 minutes. Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix well. Add powdered sugar, roasted chana dal and kurmura. Mix well. Cook on low heat for 5-6 minutes. Allow it to cool down.
3. Transfer chiwda in an airtight glass jar.
4. Serve immediately.
