In 2005, Fazley left the Renaissance Hotel to pursue his dream of opening his restaurant. He opened a small café in Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur, called Fazley Yaakob Café, which quickly gained a reputation for its delicious food and cozy atmosphere. The café served a variety of Malaysian and Western dishes, and Fazley’s innovative approach to traditional recipes attracted a loyal following of customers.
Culinary Achievements
Over the years, Fazley has received numerous awards and recognition for his culinary achievements. In 2012, he won the Best Asian Celebrity Chef Award at the World Gourmet Summit Awards of Excellence in Singapore, becoming the first Malaysian chef to receive the honor. The following year, he was awarded the title of Dato’ by the Sultan of Pahang, in recognition of his contributions to the culinary industry.
In 2014, Fazley was invited to represent Malaysia in the Culinary Olympics in Germany, where he and his team won a silver medal in the Cold Platter category.
